look into motorcycle ear plugs. they are designed to be small (worn inside a helmet). and they block an engine-worth of noise. the ones I ride with, I also sleep with from time to time if it's noisy outside.

We have a projector in our basement, the Apple TV is hooked up directly to that via HDMI and to a sound bar via audio cables. We have no TVs in the house, so that's the “entertainment base station” for all our Netflix/Disney+/whatever needs.

I talk into an Elgato Prompter and am surrounded by 3 @AputureLighting lights: an Amaran 100, some other, (forgot, lol) and an Infinibar PB6.

Did some upgrading in the studio. The ceiling rail mounting system is now in place, holding most of my lights. I'll be adding a few more things (mics and cameras) to this over time. So much more space to walk with the clunky light stands out of the way.

With the ZV-1, I had an always-on HDMI-based setup. No need to do the USB data thing. My USB only charged the camera, which I never turned off and thus didn't have to change zoom settings. Grabbed a capture card and a microHDMI cable and BOOM. HD video, never needed to touch the camera, could even mount a prompter and use an iPad beneath it.

eight sleep has been an absolute game changer, it auto dials in your overall temperatures as you use it with auto pilot. i also love being woken up with a hot alarm + vibration instead of any sounds. i'm gonna upgrade to pod 5 ultra with the blanket too which just launched.

Microsoft just shipped a $30 USB-C controller that has all the inputs needed for VR *and* has a screw attach point. If you attach a magsafe adapter to the screw mount, and stick a phone on it you now have a fully capable inside-out tracked VR wand. It's perfect. 🥹

Where I ended up is macbook pros for them after they turn 3 from the 2017-era. Crazy? You can get these for $200 on eBay b/c the screens have a cosmetic defect. As far as kids devices, these are *insanely* better than dogshit tablets. Top tier.

I also got a M4 Macbook Air and it is a truly incredible computer.

I keep geeking out over how amazing Joy-Con 2 controllers are. They are only $40 each, and have a full 9dof IMU, connect over BLE, have great latency. I mean, jeeze. Please don't break them Nintendo 🙏🙏🙏

Honorable mention is Game Builder Garage on Switch, but I took the Switch away for now since it ends up getting plugged into mobile mode and then being too isolated - again, those big screens help me keep an eye on things!

iPad Pro remains the best single technology product for sale. It is impressive in every respect: it's beautiful, absurdly fast, and incredibly well made. There hasn't been a device so vastly better than everything else in the world since iPod, or maybe the original iPhone.

Bought a Beelink Mini PC and installed vanilla Ubuntu. Then setup remote Codex and will have it manage the entire machine going forward. Was able to set up Tailscale, Home Assistant (and auto discover a bunch of devices), etc. all from my phone.

Late to the party, but after a couple of 4+ hour road trips and a few weeks around town, the Tesla Y with FSD 14+ is incredible. Someone said it recently: it's like going from black and white to color TV. And when you drive a regular car again, even if it's a "better" car, you still feel dumb having to drive yourself.

Recently bought a Portal+ and 2 Portals for my parents and in-laws. Best video call UX I've had outside of an expensive board room setup. Big screen + hands-free + wide-angle + motion tracking + microphone makes it easy to have a conversation across the kitchen while cooking.

I am genuinely really really impressed with the Framework 13 Pro. I was unhappy with the old 13. Awful keyboard, trackpad, and display. New one is way better in all categories. Best PC trackpad I've used, awesome keyboard, no more display wobbling. Feels 10x more premium.
