I buy it. I use it. I tell you the truth.
If you want someone who holds back on the truth because they're afraid of getting blacklisted by big tech companies, my blog isn't for you.
If you want someone who gets paid big bucks to promote the hottest trend (regardless of whether or not it's actually good), my blog isn't for you.
If you want someone who doesn't actually use the products they write about, my blog isn't for you.
But…
If you want authentic reviews from someone who doesn't have to answer to anyone, I made this blog for you.
I buy all my own stuff. No sponsorships, no free products, no brand deals. I run my own business, and I don't have a boss telling me what I can or can't say. If something sucks, I'll tell you. If something is worth the money, I'll tell you that too.
In 2016, I had recently graduated Keene State College with a business degree and I wasn't sure what to do with my life. I had money saved, and no intentions of working for anyone. So I started a blog called Power Moves. I wanted a place to brag about my new tech purchases. It turns out that having a tech blog was an easy justification for buying way more tech gear than I needed.
Fortunately, readers resonated with my in-depth analysis and authentic reviews, and this blog went from a fun hobby to a sustainable business. My reviews are on my YouTube channel too. I've archived most content made before 2022 to keep this site current, but older reviews can be found in the archive.
The address has changed a few times along the way. It started at allpowermoves.com, then moved to powermoves.blog, and these days my reviews live on Sterp. Same gear, same honest takes, same money coming out of my own pocket. The only thing that's changed is the URL.
I made my name for buying smart home tech and mesh routers, but I don't want to be bound to any specific category. I'll just continue to buy products that interest me, use them in my everyday life, and then provide my honest take to the internet.
I just finished testing the Eight Sleep Pillow Cover and Blanket and the Whoop 5.0. I'm currently testing the Google Nest Doorbell, Aqara Doorbell G400, Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, and Google Nest Thermostat.
I have select affiliate partnerships (Eight Sleep, Amazon) but I buy every product myself. Editorial independence is non-negotiable. As an Amazon Affiliate, I earn a small commission (usually between 1–4%) on some purchases made through the links in my posts. These commissions support my blog, which lets me buy new products and produce reviews independently.
I can't write a full review for every product I own. That's the whole reason I built Sterp. My page is sterp.com/cam: real photos I took, the stuff I actually use day to day, and a one-line take on each thing.
Here's my pitch to you. If you're reading the About page of a tech reviewer, you're probably the friend everyone texts before they buy something. You put in the research hours and you've got opinions. Put them somewhere. You can build your own page in a few minutes, starting with one thing you own and can't shut up about.
